关于世界杯｜

The FIFA World Cup, often simply called the World Cup, is an international association football competition contested by the senior men's national teams of the members of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the sport's global governing body. The championship has been awarded every four years since the inaugural tournament in 1930, except in 1942 and 1946 when it was not held because of the Second World War. The current champions are France, who won their second title at the 2018 tournament in Russia.

国际足联世界杯，通常简称为世界杯，任何国际足联(FIFA)会员国（地区）都可以派出代表队报名参加这项赛事。世界杯由国际足联负责管理，自1930年首次举办以来，除1942年和1946年因二战搁置外，每四年举行一次。2018年，法国队在俄罗斯世界杯上二次夺冠，成为了目前的世界杯冠军。

本届亮点｜

The 2022 FIFA World Cup is taking place in Qatar from 20 November to 18 December 2022. This is the first World Cup to be held in the Arab world, and the second World Cup held entirely in Asia after the 2002 tournament in South Korea and Japan.

2022年卡塔尔世界杯（FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022）将于2022年11月20日至12月18日在卡塔尔举行。本届世界杯是这一国际赛事首次在中东国家境内举行、也是继2002年日韩世界杯后第二次来到亚洲。

The tournament is featuring 32 participating teams, the last to do so as the field will increase to 48 teams for the 2026 tournament. Matches at the event will be played in eight venues across five cities. Due to Qatar's intense summer heat, this World Cup is being held during November and December, being the first tournament not held in May, June, or July.

足球之争｜football 还是 soccer ？

一说起篮球，我们总能轻易想到basketball，那么说到足球，脑子里出现的是football还是soccer呢？其实这两个词都可以表示足球，但意思稍有不同。

美国人将足球称为“soccer”，但英国人就叫它”football”，在英国以及大多数欧洲国家，人们都用 football 来指“足球”。在以英语为主要语言或官方语言的45个国家足协（national affliate）中，只有美国、加拿大和萨摩亚的足协在名称中使用soccer字样。在美国和加拿大等国家football特指橄榄球。
