The full name of the Fair is The Export Commodities Fair. It was inaugurated in 1957 and has since been held twice a year in Guangzhou, regularly in spring and autumn.

As more and more people come to visit the Fair, not only from West Europe, the U.S., Japan, Hongkong and Macao, where economies are highly developed, but also from the East European countries, Africa, Latin America, Taiwan, etc., the Fair has greatly promoted our trade and cooperation with various countries and regions of the world.

Over the years, state heads of many countries have visited the Fair on different stages of its development, and almost every session is visited by many international organizations, or well known figures from the business world of different countries and regions. The experience of the Fair’s 50 years clearly shows that the Guangzhou Trade Fair conforms to the reality of China’s foreign trade, and, having the Chinese unique features, it is an effective form by which China conducts her foreign trade.
